# Teams

> Group reps under a manager, add and remove people, and see what a team's manager can do.

A team is a named group of reps and the manager who looks after them, such as one shop or one department. A person is on one team at a time.

Owners and admins work across every team, so they are never members of one. In the **Members** list they show as **All teams**.

Teams are for organising people. They do not change which conversations anyone sees: a manager sees every conversation in the workspace, and a rep sees their own and the unassigned ones. See [Roles](/team/roles).

## Create a team

<Note>Owners and admins only.</Note>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose New team">
    Go to **Settings**, then **Users and teams**, and choose **New team**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name it">
    Enter a **Team name** and choose **Create team**. The new team's page opens.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Add people to a team

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the team">
    On **Users and teams**, select the team under **Teams**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Add member">
    Pick the **Person** and their **Role on this team**: rep or manager.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add them">
    Choose **Add to team**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The list offers managers and reps who are not on a team yet. To move someone from another team, remove them from that team first.

You can also put someone on a team when you invite them. See [Invite people](/team/invite-people).

## Change a team

On the team's page, an owner or admin can:

* **Rename it.** Select the team's name and type a new one.
* **Change a member's role.** Use the role menu beside their name. Making someone the manager of a team makes them a manager in the workspace, and setting them back to rep does the reverse.
* **Remove a member.** Choose **Remove from team** beside their name. They stay in the workspace, without a team.
* **Delete the team.** Choose **Delete**. A team can only be deleted once everyone has been removed from it.

## What a team's manager can do

A manager reaches their team from **Settings**, **Users and teams**, under **Your team**. On their own team, a manager can:

* add a rep who is not on a team yet, with **Add a rep**
* remove a rep from the team.

A manager cannot rename or delete the team, change anyone's role, or remove another manager. Those are for an owner or admin. A manager also cannot invite new people to the workspace.
